Frequently Asked Questions – The Glasshouse

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am.

We understand that flight schedules may not always align with these timings. If you need extra time, please ask us about availability. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible subject to availability and applicable fees.

How does the electricity allowance work?

Electricity is included up to 300 kWh per day (equivalent to THB 1,800 and sufficient for almost all stays).

This comfortably covers normal residential use, including lighting, hot water, appliances, pool pump operation and regular air conditioning use. Running the pool and villa without guests typically uses approximately 50 kWh per day.

To encourage thoughtful use of air conditioning, any excess consumption is charged at cost.

How does the private chef service work?

We work with a small number of trusted chefs who are familiar with the villa and the level of service our guests expect.

The chef charges a daily service fee (rates depend on group size; please enquire for current pricing). The daily service includes shopping, preparation, serving and clearing, and can cover up to three meals per day — breakfast, lunch and dinner. A breakfast-only option is also available.

Ingredients are charged separately at cost.

Our chefs specialise in Thai cuisine but can also prepare a wide range of Asian, international and child-friendly dishes. They are happy to accommodate dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, halal and allergen-free meals.

The chef service is subject to availability and we recommend booking in advance of your trip to ensure availability. The chef requires 7 days notice to cancel.

What other services can you help with?

Our villa manager is happy to assist with additional services during your stay. Many services (such as in-villa massage) can be arranged once you arrive, but some (such as nanny or babysitting services) benefit from advance notice.

Is the Glasshouse suitable for children?

Yes. Many of our guests are families with children of all ages.

We provide cots, high chairs and floor mattresses for children.

Ao Yon and Khao Khad beaches (within 200m of the villa) are both in sheltered bays and don’t have the high waves and rip tides that the west coast beaches experience. This makes them much more suited for kids to swim all year round.

Please note:

• The living area floor is marble and can become slippery when wet.

• There is no barrier separating the pool from the rest of the outdoor space, which is typical in Thailand.

Is the villa wheelchair or elderly friendly?

A chair lift connects the car park to the entrance on the main living level.

Bespoke ramps provide step-free access throughout the main living level, which includes the living room, dining area, TV den, poolside bedroom and poolside terrace.

The poolside bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with support rails for the WC and shower. A shower chair is available.

Can we host an event at the Glasshouse?

We have hosted a range of private events at the villa, including weddings, celebrations and retreats.

The pool terrace, with views across Chalong Bay towards Big Buddha, provides a private and romantic setting for intimate gatherings.

Please contact us before booking if you are planning an event so we can discuss arrangements.

Can you arrange tours, day trips or island hopping?

We are happy to point guests towards reputable local providers for tours and island trips. We recommend booking early in high season, particularly for boat charters.

What is the best way to get around?

There is limited public transport in Phuket.

Our neighbour provides a van taxi service and gives priority to Glasshouse guests. It’s like having a van with driver available throughout your stay — you simply pay for the trips you make.

Are pets allowed?

We do not usually allow pets. If you would like to bring a pet, please discuss this with us before confirming your booking.

Do you accept hen, stag or similar gatherings?

Based on previous experience, we no longer accept bookings for hen, stag, bachelor, bachelorette or graduation gatherings.

What is your cancellation policy?

All paid prepayments are non-refundable. We recommend taking out travel insurance with cancellation cover at the time of booking.
